Multiversity Garden @ Women’s Studio Workshop
April 27 - October 31
Science is finally catching up with ancient knowledge, namely that plants do talk. At least to each other. The publication of The Hidden Life Trees by German forest ranger, Peter Wohlleben, revealed a extraordinary world of sensors and modes of communication among trees and plants. Guest artist Mei-Ling Hon uses the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail to bring this idea to life. The railroad, along with accompanying telegraph lines, was the internet of its day. But long before that the natural world communicated through the air and through the soil. Mei-Ling Hon brings these two seeminly disparate worlds together with an installation of plants in self-composting planters arrayed like train cars along our way. Worth taking a stroll every day to see the changes over time and through the seasons. Listen in, you might hear the trail telling you to keep it natural.
